Welcome to Guuurl, That's My Jam!

Here, have some rules:

1. Prompts are bi-weekly (lasting 14 days) and the rotational schedule to pick prompts can be found to your right, under ►Playlist. An "at-a-glance" version of the current jam can be found under ►Now Playing.

2. Posting a fill for each prompt isn't mandatory, but you MUST post at least one fill for the prompt preceding yours, otherwise your turn to pick a prompt will be skipped.

3. Please don't ask to join the blog (unless we know you). This place was created for classmates to keep in touch upon graduation, and as such it's pretty much invite only. You're more than welcome to follow for updates or play along at home and post the results at your own blogs. :)

Hoku Baxter

Hoku Baxter is a teenage girl with teenage problems. She isn't the prettiest girl at school, and her folks don't have a lot of money to speak of. She is not shy, but she doesn't have a lot to say.

She has always gone to the woods when she feels stretched thin, but never in her life has she encountered anything like this.

Yes it is a shameless rip off of the Torch Tiger Cover. I wanted to experiment with light and colour this time around.

21.2.12

Charlie Baxter is...

A doctor. A greengrocer. A security guard. A tailor. A police officer.

In short, Charlie Baxter is whoever he needs to be to get the job done.

Curse of the Monkey Island

I have to say, this is probably one of the most memorable childhood games
that I ever played.
Sucks that they don't make games like these anymore...(b4 it went 3D)

D&D

I feel like this is a cop-out, but I wanted to participate in this damn blog again.
D&D of course!

Crap picture, but whatever.
*EDIT* I'm going to pay for this tomorrow morning, but I decided to stay up and paint for a bit.

princess peach no fighteruuuu

The only games I actually rly played hardcore were Super Mario World, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat. Here is Princess Peach as a campy fighter chick with her lethal umbrella. I am too lazy to finish drawing/coloring Mario and Luigi.

P.S. Count your blessings I didnt go through with an updated version of Donkey Kong Polærobics.

I'll take the big one.

So my first thought on this post was Shadow of Colossus because that game is amazing, really well done and a lot of fun to play. I did the sketch you see here and went, "Sorry blog, I'm just not ready to sacrifice all this time on tiny details to have it not even come close to the actual game." So if you want to be amazed and inspired, go play it. Another game (series) I enjoyed were the Ratchet and Clank games, which are good too and the main characters are much much much easier to draw. But I like to think I stuck with a theme of little guy versus a very big construct. I bet the guy in Colossus wishes he had a Blitz Gun (or as I refer to it, Cone of Dead Things) like Ratchet.

Nordic Nightingale

Painted that bitch fast. Bitches love Nightingale Armor speed paintings.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

EDIT: As per request, I lightened it up, I don't realize how shitty my monitors are calibrated sometimes. :)

I'm happy that I'm gonna be part of this blog now..

Party of Four

I chose the golden days of N64 and Playstation 1 for my piece. Because I know not everyone knows these characters, I'll list'm: "Prune Juice" Moonraker Elite (b) from Goldeneye 007, Spyro from the Spyro games, Crash Bandicoot (and the Tiki Mask thinger) from the Crash Bandicoot Games, and Link from Zelda (specifically Ocarina of Time). Also featuring one of the versions of the winning screen from the Mario Party 2 mini-games!

I had a hell of a lot of fun playing these games when I was younger. I always played as Prune Juice with my group of friends (everyone had that group of friends y'played 007 with), coasting as Spyro, running away backwards from an encroaching obstacle as Crash, and riding the pony as Link (I probably didn't actually finish that game.. riding the pony was the highlight for me, hence fourth place).

.. and now I can go back to drawing TF2 fanart.

Calling all Gamers!

Simple prompt: create an image that is an homage to a game you love. It could be a game from your childhood or one that has recently captured your interest. It could be a console game, online game, tabletop/roleplaying, board game - whatever you want. Pick something you love dearly and create an image that expresses it.

Example ideas include splash page illustrations, a doodle of a favourite character, a poster design, game cover, "updated re-design" for older games, anything is fair game (hoho, I made a pun). Just have fun!

Prompt ends February 15th, 2012.
