Mild mannered Johnny goes to bed after eating two dozen thai curry chicken wings and at the zenith of the planetary alignment is teleported to a fantastic new world of science, magic and luscious ladies! His alien makeup has granted him fantastic abilities and he begins an epic quest to conquer the evil wizards of the world and bring about the prophecy!

Having read Princess of Mars, I'm kind of excited for John Carter of Mars to come out and I think this reflects it. Video game-wise it would probably be closest to Brutal Legend crossed with God of War and Infamous. In short, the greatest game ever. Self character sheets are hard, by the way. They involve more introspection then I would have though and I was trying to be funny on top of it. No numbers though, math is lame. Arg! I should have put a weakness to math.

I'll take the big one.

So my first thought on this post was Shadow of Colossus because that game is amazing, really well done and a lot of fun to play. I did the sketch you see here and went, "Sorry blog, I'm just not ready to sacrifice all this time on tiny details to have it not even come close to the actual game." So if you want to be amazed and inspired, go play it. Another game (series) I enjoyed were the Ratchet and Clank games, which are good too and the main characters are much much much easier to draw. But I like to think I stuck with a theme of little guy versus a very big construct. I bet the guy in Colossus wishes he had a Blitz Gun (or as I refer to it, Cone of Dead Things) like Ratchet.

Logically of course.

Guess what show I really got into? Its the original Star Trek! Spock makes me laugh on a regular basis but even through his logical exterior anyone can see the bromance between these two.

Smog

I haven't posted in a while and I was hoping to find some dragon artwork from high school and get two birds with one stone, but I'm running around like a crazy this week trying to get everything done so this'll have to do. I dig it because with the Hobbit coming out next year I'm hoping that they spare no expense when it comes to bringing a dragon into that universe.

What to do?

Hey guys, this isn't a post and I'm sorry about breaking protocol but many (or most) of you are better designers than I am and I would love your input on this. This is an idea for a tattoo that I've had forever and with all the free time I had in late summer I started putting it together. I want to put it on my left shoulder and the foliage would wrap around to the back and a little to the front. I'm not thrilled with it however. I still like the idea and the basics of it, but it didn't come out perfect and I think its probably just in need of fresh eyes. If you read the notes in red it kinda lets you know what parts I'm stuck on and what's not done. Thanks guys.

When asked which super power I want, I usually say magnetic mastery so that I can throw cars out of the way. When I was trying to think of something clever for this post, I thought car crushing would be a close second.

Biffy the Vampyr Slayer

So if you think about it, just about every super hero has a gender swap copy. Batman has Batgirl, Spiderman/Spiderwoman, Wolverine/X23, there's a handful of female Green Lanterns, Miss Martian, She-Hulk, Captain America/American Dream, Superman's got Supergirl, Superwoman and Power Girl! So it was a trick to think of someone obscure enough not to have a swapped counterpart. Behold, Biffy. Buffy's like a super hero. I think she even has comics and my littlest sister and I have been watching the first season so it was fun to try to make shorts as short as her skirts.

Just as Mayerson described

I don't know if anybody remembers the lecture that Mayerson served us a healthy dose of reality, but during it he described the ideal studio having big windows and exposed brick. The studio that we all wanted to work for... and the studio most of us wouldn't work for. It also happens to be the apartment/loft that I want to live in with my future cat, Milo (or Killswitch if she's a girl). This took me all day yesterday, but I found myself continuing with it just to see how it looked at the end.  The thing on the right is a firepole and I was really excited about it when I started but personally it takes a backseat to some of the other features. I don't know if I could be a comic book artist if I'd be doing something like this (with charcters) everyday. Overall, I'm pleased with it.

Thunder, Thunder, I have the Power!

I don't really know how the point system for this works, but this was fun. I've definitely meant to do Skeletor fanart for a while now but Mumm-Ra was just as much fun to draw. I was going for just the black and white originally but the color one came from me playing with it. I would have gone full color but I'm coloring with a mouse and that's not cool. Plus, I'm chromaphobic.

Me and Rex

So apparently simple or vague prompts are best. I couldn't stop drawing for this one and I'm really happy with the result. Good prompt Nick! (not that previous prompts were bad, I enjoyed them too but this one really captures the imagination!) I also want to point out that the trex anatomy is entirely from the memory of the Jurassic Park toy.

Hooray for my turn! For my prompt I want people to draw ladies, but there are rules. What I'm looking for is basically if GIJoe was a mercenary organization that is entirely staffed by women. Sexy kick-ass women. This is the link to the image that inspired the prompt:

It would be really cool if we got enough (I'm lookin' at you guys that haven't posted ANYTHING yet) so that we could put them together like in the image. Other things to reference would obviously be GIJoe itself, Charlie's Angels, or Army of Two (but with women).

Last rule: They have to have a GIJoe name. That's right, I'm looking for cheesy code names that correspond to their attitude or occupation.

My random power was the enigma force which is a weird "powers cosmic and universal" kinda deal. So instead of a female silver surfer, I created Garzod, warmaster of Drun VI! He controls his world's movement with his thoughts and travels the galaxy looking for the most worth combatants to fight in his games. His coming brings much change to whatever world he lurks! NO HE IS NOT A GIRAFFE! GARZOD KNOWS OF NO GIRAFFE!
