Welcome to Guuurl, That's My Jam!

Here, have some rules:

1. Prompts are bi-weekly (lasting 14 days) and the rotational schedule to pick prompts can be found to your right, under ►Playlist. An "at-a-glance" version of the current jam can be found under ►Now Playing.

2. Posting a fill for each prompt isn't mandatory, but you MUST post at least one fill for the prompt preceding yours, otherwise your turn to pick a prompt will be skipped.

3. Please don't ask to join the blog (unless we know you). This place was created for classmates to keep in touch upon graduation, and as such it's pretty much invite only. You're more than welcome to follow for updates or play along at home and post the results at your own blogs. :)

Introduction Post

Welcome!

All y'all bitches have been invited to take part in an ongoing Art Jam! The purpose of this blog is to host bi-weekly jam topics for all of us to create to. I know for a fact that some of the most fun I've had, ever, is when jamming with friends and since we're all being cast to the winds this May, I figure that this would be a great way to a) keep in touch and b) keep us all drawing for fun.

Here are some basic rules/guidelines/information to get everyone acclimated.
  • Jam prompts can be anything at all. A jumble of random words, song lyrics, genres, random quotes, absolutely anything that strikes your fancy. They can be as concise or as vague as you want (though, not so vague as to leave people stumped) and are limited only by what you can come up with. Samurais, robots, pin-ups, samurai pin-up girls on giant mecha; it's alllll good! Once the prompt is posted, I'll whip up an "at-a-glance" version which can be seen your right, under Now Playing.
  • A Jam will last for two weeks (14 days) from the day it is posted. Obviously, they could run a day or two longer depending on when people get their prompts up.
  • Filling a jam prompt can be done any which way. Inspired enough to do a full illustration? Go for it! A post-it doodle is all you got? That's fine too! There is no base requirement for what constitutes a fill. So long as you're playing, it's all good! Also, you can submit as many fills for a topic that you want, if you're feeling particularly inspired.
  • The rotational schedule for picking prompts will be determined once everyone who wants to participate has accepted the blog invite. After that, I'll pop everybody's name into an online randomizer and voila! You can then see the results to your right, under Playlist.
  • In terms of posting frequency, while it would be ideal that everybody post at least one fill for each topic, we all know that life happens or that sometimes you just don't feel like it. To keep things fair, the rule will be that you must post a fill for the challenge before yours. That is to say, if you want to have your turn to post a jam prompt, then you have to make at least one fill for the previous prompt, otherwise your turn will be skipped and it'll be on to the next person on the list. :)
  • Okay, so, labels. In order to keep things nice and neat, I'll make up a label for each of you to use when posting. That way, if you ever feel like looking up something you/someone else did from way-back-when, then you can just sift through those entries as opposed to everything. I'll make artist labels as people make their first fill posts. After that, you can just apply them yourselves as you're posting fills. When posting a jam prompt, then obviously use the "♫ Prompt" label.
  • For now, I'd like to keep the group smallish, just to see how things go. In the future, if people begin to show interest in joining the jam, let me know and I'll send them an invite. In a similar vein, I'll change the blog to viewable for members only once everybody has joined. This is to keep things private, personal and pressure-free. I figure if we like our fills enough, they can just be re-posted to our main blogs for the world to see.
  • Lastly, and most importantly: HAVE FUN. Otherwise, what the hell is the point?
So, enough chit-chat. Let's get the party started!
